Mino-Washi “Akari” Art Gallery

The world of candlelight art display…and beckons you to a mystical world of candlelight.

Lose yourself in the atmosphere created by the rows of udatsu houses at night.

Museum Shop

Our shop selling washi candlelight art is located on the first floor. Like an exhibition hall, it has a range of highly artistic candlelight art.

More than merely an exhibition hall, note the external design.

This building was formerly the Mino City Industrial Association Hall, built in 1941. The building has two floors and a slate roof. The external walls are tiled, the upper section of the outer wall is wooden, and under the eaves of the front entrance there is a Buddhist-style decoration. The building was registered as a Nationally-designated Registered Tangible Cultural Property in 2005.

Faint Lights Glowing in the Darkness
Soft Light Passing Through Washi Invites You into a Mystical Space.

The Mino-Washi “Akari” Art Gallery has expanded its fantastic exhibition space to recreate the feel of an autumn evening. The udatsu-lined old streets rise upwards into light filtered through washi. This phenomenon is recreated within the museum. Original candlelight art can always be enjoyed. There are many works to be enjoyed in the permanent exhibition hall and the projection exhibition hall.
